The old order changeth; I grew up with the music of Earl Scruggs on “The Beverly Hillbillies” and the power of Marshall stacks on the stage. Both made their presence felt and both will live on in the panoply of our popular culture. from an economic standpoint, both helped to sell thousands of stringed instruments and two divergent but vital loci of American popular music.

I hope that the possibility still remains of hearing “Foggy Mountain Breakdown” with Marshalls turned up to 10.
